I use Sybase SQL Anywhere on the Job

by jdaly In reply to Sybase SQL Anywhere

We build networks for Dr.'s offices ranging in size from 1-40 pcs. I won't pretend to be an expert on it, but Sybase SQL Anywhere has proved to be pretty fast and reliable with Win9x, NT wkstn and NT server, running NetBEUI and, more often, TCP/IP. I'm interested to read other's comments

Sybase ASA

by kstandard In reply to Sybase SQL Anywhere

I work for a company that distributes an application for the healthcare industry. The project has used Sybase SQL Anywhere since version 5 and we are now upgrading our customers to version 7.01. It has proven to be a very versatile and powerful database engine. It can handle single user and multi-user situations with comparable ease.

Version 7 has made the T-SQL syntax almost match the more powerful, server only, Adaptive Server Enterprise. In fact, ASA can use a ASA or ASE backend with little or no impact.

The OLE DB interface has proven to be very fast and reliable with Visual Basic 6 Enterprise. We are currently updating our application to three tier and Sybase tech support has helped on a number of technical issues. They are a very easy company to deal with(unlike some others I could name).

For the price it is hard to go wrong.
