Symantec Client Security - Right Click Error Sequence of Windows

By mikey ·
Hello all..a weird problem that professor google cant solve.

Tech Specs: Running XP SP2, on lenovo Z60t laptop, Microsoft Office 2003 SBE.

Every time I right click anything in any program, including the desktop, i get this sequence of error pop up windows, all with "Symantec Client Security" as the title of the window, with the window message body saying:

1. Preparing to install...(flashes through to)
2. Please wait while Windows configures Symantec Client Security (flashes through to..)
3. "You cannot install a licensed build over an unlicensed build" - click OK, then

steps 1-3 repeat immediately

4. The second time you click "OK", the windows disappear and then you get the contextual right-click menu of whatever you were trying to get in to

Maybe somewhat related is the error message upon starting outlook: "The add-in 'C:\Program Files\Symantec_Client_Security\Symantec AntiVirus..." could not be installed or loaded. This problem may be resolved by using Detect and Repair on the Help menu."

Following other advice, already deleted all users copies of extend.dat and rebooted machine but same error(s) persist.

Backstory: Upon a clean install of the OS, I was given a cracked copy of Norton 2007 which I installed. These problems began. i then bought a licensed copy of Norton and installed it, the problems got worse. I uninstalled both versions and these problems still exist.

In "add-remove" programs, I am prohibited from uninstalling "Symantec Client Security" as it appears to be part of the native lenovo bloatware that comes with the specific XP SP2 OS recovery disk install.

Tech Specs: Running XP SP2, on lenovo Z60t laptop, Microsoft Office 2003 SBE.
