system lockup

By info ·
I have a Win2K computer that when left on over the weekend refuses to start up and I have to keep rebooting. Ctr +Alt+ Del does not work. Does anyone have any idea as to how I correct this?
thanks
Marc

system lockup

Hi Marc,

Check your power management settings. Your pc may be going into hibernation mode over the weekend. Some combinations of hardware on newer pc's have trouble coming back out of windows hibernation. They go into the hibernation fine, but then no user interaction (mouse, keyboard) can bring the pc back to life. A hard reboot is necessary. I had this same problem with my Dell desktop.

Unless you really plan on using that feature, it is best disabled. This can be done by> Control Panel>Power Options>Hibernate tab.

Let me know how it goes.
Regards,
dan
