system process terminated unexpectedly

By stephan.bakker ·
Hi,

After starting up windows 2000 prof. sp2, i get the following message/error:

"The system process LSASS.EXE terminated unexpectedly with status code -1073741571. the system willo now shut down and restart."

According microsoft this problem accurs in a windows 2000 server with sp1 enviorment, see technet.

http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q284/0/03.ASP

this problem accurs during preparations for network connection, after a min the computer reboot. this termination can not be stopt. the computer is connected to a domain, but no active directory configured (not in use). im getting the same problem if the computer is not connected to the domain.

Has someone experienced the same problem or know a solution or fix.

If u need more info, please mail me.

Kind regards.

Stephan Bakker

I would try removing the network card drivers and reinstalling. Windows 2000 is weak in recognizing network drivers. Be sure that you use Windows 2000 drivers for the particular card that you have. It may be an incompatible version of LSASS.EXE from the drivers. You may want to try a different NIC if the problem persists.
