"SYSTEM" process using 100% CPU

By kevin7frg ·
I have a Dell Precision 650 with 4GB RAMM just start 100% CPU usage. The process using it all is "SYSTEM". I have done a system restore to an earlier date with no luck but I did notice that in safe mode the usage dropped to normal. I disabled drivers to see if that was it and I had no luck. Any ideas?

The Windows Sysinternals blog of 10 Jul'06 diagnosed a bug in drivers and recommended driver update for:

video/chipset/audio/lan/other external/internal devices

Not real specific.

Well as Unix gives you a lot of control over the CPU

I first need to know which drivers you have disabled and which version of the OS you are using before I can help you solve this problem.

Something similar to this might be occurring

Does eventviewer show anything?

I would check out sysinternals as well. They have a utility that will allow you to monitor active processes what they're hooked to etc.
