System Resources

Besides stopping programs from starting when windows starts is there a way to allow for more system resources to be available during normal computer operation? Would increased CPU speed help. Right now running PIII 1ghz 384mb ram and getting 55% resources free during the middle of the day of computer usage.

What version of stinking Windows are you running? If it's 95 or 98, you can adjust the memory settings in the config.sys file...if you're using Me, get used to the problem...I haven't found any way to tell Me to allot memory differently...yet...hope this helps a little

Like in previous answer I'd like to say, that in this problem it's most imortant to know what Windows verson do you use. In case if it's 2000 - the first way is to reduse services. Take a look at the following link:

Sorry everyone, It is windows 98se. I guess I should have realized that everyone isn't a mind reader :) Thanks for the help.
