Sysvol Staging Area

By Whatme? ·
I have a network with 5 separate sites w.Dc w/ global catalogue,ad,dns, dhcp at each site...all W2K. The DC at site 1 stopped replicating because it is full. 2 of the othe sites have done the same but their data in the staging areas are different data and different sizes. On the other 2 sites the staging areas are empty. I can't do a registry tweak as suggested by Microsoft. The amount is almost a gig on site 1 and a little less on the other 2. Can I delete the entire staging area at each site and start again? It seems as if it is trying to replicate data upon data. This problem already crashed one of my servers a week ago so I can't ignore it.

Thanks

I'm not a AD expert, but I suspect the concept behids what you are going to end up doing is remving all the secondary copies of the AD and starting from scratch by pushing the AD database from the PDC out to the branches.

However, to me the problem as described is indicative of bad communications between the sites. AD is know to require quite a bit of bandwidth, and I've heard it has trouble recovering should comms fails during an AD transfer/update. Takes what steps you can to make sure the connections are squeaky clean.

(holdng back a comparative observation of NDS/eDir)

That's fine so far but I still have to cut down or delete my first staging area so that it can "push"it out again. Don't know if this will work.
