Sytem Tray Icons

The icons you see in the system try are NOT just shortcuts, they are icons from currently running programs. To have an icon in the system tray you have to have some sort of program running then call the Shell_NotifyIcon API function to "send" it tothe tray. I don't know what language you are programming in but, if VB code would help I can send you some that works.

Most program that want to be in the tray aren't actually in the tray, they have a second program that is the tray program. When the use clicks the tray icon, the tray program starts the main program.

As for deployment, install the tray program and then add a shirtcut to it to the users startup program group.
