Taking ownership of folders

By liam.curran ·
Can anyone tell me why using the new security editor with Win2000 taking ownsership of a folder with multiple subfolders, the ownership only seems to go about 3 levels deep. After that I am forced to go to every single subfolder in the tree and explicitly take ownership!!!

That must be one more "undocumented feature" of windows2000. I have noticed this with other Microsoft products, specifically when changing permissions in NT4.0.

Well, I myself have never run into this problem. But the simplest solution that comes to mind is to change the owner from the command line. You'll need the Windows 2000 Resource Kit to do it, unfortunately. The built-in CACLS command won't quite cut it.
