Tape Drives Under Linux

By acebass ·
I have an HP 12/24 gb DAT on a system running RedHat Linux 6.1. When I open KDat and attempt to load a tape I get a message saying "No Tape In Drive", even though the drive light is on. I have tried cleaning the drive and tried to mount the tape anyway, but still get the same message! any ideas..?

Hi,
Check the volume manger is running properly or not. Are you getting the same problem with CDROM if yes then sure there is problem with volume Manager. Just stop and start the volume Manger daemon.
Try this out and let me know
Best of Luck!!
bye
Nitesh
