TASK MANAGER GONE FROM COMPUTER

By loujac12 ·
I received a message that the Task Manager was Disabled by Administrator. I first tried redegit and then tried several other methods I found in forums. However, the Task Manager appears to be gone completely from my computer. Is there a way to get this back? Thank you.

Click Start > click Run > type
%systemroot%\inf

NOTE : No spaced anywhere in this line ^^

Click OK to open the INF folder.

Locate the file mstask.inf
Right-click the file, and then click Install . This will reinstall the files that are required
At this point you will be asked for you XP CD

Hope this helps.

Try this..

Go to >Start.Run> mscofig> Start-up tab - then work through the list of programs which load at start-up. Task Manager should be there and if it is unchecked, then Check it and EXIT. You will be prompted to shut-down and re-start your computer, after that, you should hopefully see the TM icon in your system tray once again.

Please post back if you have anymore problems or questions.
