    Telnet disconnection without a reason

    Locked

    by Anonymous ·

I have a Compaq Alpha server, Tru64 Digital Unix 4.0F on it, an Oracle RDBMS and users connect to the application using Telnet. Recently I begin to see the following messages on the daemon.log syslog file:
Jul 17 09:23:42 girafe telnetd[2117]: ttloop: read: Connection reset by peer
    and
Jul 17 09:00:24 girafe telnetd[2178]: ttloop: peer died: Not owner
That makes that all users get disconnected from it.
I see this message every 2, 3 or 4 minutes(more or less), it’s not periodic.
I have check the PID between brackets and found no such process.
Could you help me with suggestions for what to check?
    Thanks!

I would suggest you to either check the “TimeOut” and “Ulimit” field in /etc/default/login configuration file; or check the Oracle process state, extends the time out for oracle if your users are using it.

It seems to be the routers were alarm because of a energy failure and didn’t restart them. We restarted them and the error dissappear.
        Thanks anyway!
