When a server has 4 GB of physical RAM and NT 4.0 TSE, what is the appropriate size for the pagefile? In its documentation, Dell did not specify why it chose 512 MB as the pagefile size for the server.
It does not matter how much disk space is available.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/performance/how-to-determine-the-appropriate-page-file-size-for-64-bit-versions-of-windows tells it’s managed by Windows. Dell (or probably the Windows setup logic made by Microsoft) gives you the minimum size, which makes sense.

I ran NT 4.0 for years. The size is set by your needs and has never had some optimal size.
