I am the IT Manager for global company and I handle North America. I work out of the main office on the west coast (50+ users) and manage 3 remote locations across the country (25 users). I have been with the company 6 years and when I started, the only technology present at the main office was a novell print server.
Our headquaters are in Europe and until last year we have never had a CIO and I have run autonomously. Last year the head office hired a CIO who has rushed in like a bull in a china shop to update the european systems and create a “global” company intranet/extranet.
This has turned into nothing short of infighting, vicious accusations and ultimately a “witch hunt” with my head on a platter as the goal. I wont bore you all with the nasty details but to summarize.
I have built and maintained a solid network over the past 5 years and maintained better than 98% QOS over that time. Since the new CIO has implimented his game plan, I am lucky to get this post sent out. Little by little through dirty “back-room” politics He has taken control of a good portion of the network and is screaming for my job to the President (my boss in North America).
The advice I continue to recieve from “non-IT” folks is the same..”Quit, there are better places to work, etc, etc.” I cant just walk away, this man is a fraud and I am having a really hard time explaining that the “emperor has no clothes”. Any feedback would be appreciated.
