the system cannot log you on now because the domain is not available

By techrepublic ·
I am getting the following message when I try to log into my domain using the Microsoft Wireless Client
the system cannot log you on now because the domain is not available

If I log in as admin locally and then set the wireless network everything is fine until the computer is shutdown and rebooted.

Any thoughts?

Catch 22

by TonytheTiger In reply to the system cannot log you ...

You can't authenticate to the wireless OU or group until you're logged in, and you can't see the domain until you've authenticated to the wireless.

One solution: Have users log in once with the laptop hard wired to the network. This will establish a profile on the computer for them which they can log into whether connected or not.

Another solution: Create a container for your wireless computers with a group policy authenticating those machines to the wireless.

Our Intel wireless cards have a utility that connect the wireless when you try to log in. Maybe your card has something like that available.
