Is there a way to detect and or monitor web bugs activity on users computers or a sure way to block them or keep them from connecting to all tcp or udp ports.

There should be a way if you have fire wall protection. We use Microsoft Proxy and I know I have the ability to block ports. There are a number of good fire wall software out there, but unfortunately I can't remember any names.

Good Luck

you can try firewalls of type checkpoint, nokia for high-end usage or norton, zone alarm, for personal usage. these can be configured to block all ports and open required ones.

Firewalls can't stop them yet, but there is newly released software by iventurelabs that can help. I haven't tried it myself, but plan to look at it this week.

I cut this paragraph from a popup window for an article on their site at http://www.iventurelab.com
"The Personal Sentinel product can be downloaded from the Intelytics website at
http://www.intelytics.com/personal/index.html. In addition, Privacy Council, a leading provider of global privacy solutions and a strategic partner of Intelytics, soon expects to offer their clients free access to Personal Sentinel on their website, http://www.privacycouncil.com/. This April, Privacy Council also plans to launch an Intelytics certified web bug cleaning station on their site that willprovide Web users with the ability to remove web bugs from their systems using Network Sentinel."

If you're interested, let me know and I'll email you what I find out after I look at it.

Good luck,
Melissa
