Cisco NetFlow

by trudgian In reply to Thoughts on Cisco's NetFl ...

I guess I don't follow it. I downloaded the NetFlow reading for SQLSnake worm, but I can't understand what it's trying to tell me. I think it's great when a technology is more useful than it's intended purpose, but in this area I'm lost. What is meant by the term "worm"? I thought it had something to do with viruses. If so, I don't follow the gist of this problem. Is it some kind of infection that's found a hidey-hole courtesy of a NATed address on a SQL port, then goes about overloading bandwidth somehow? The newsletter is helpful for pointing out NetFlow to try to tackle a bandwidth anomaly, but for me it raises a lot of questions.
