Locked's misleading contest promotion

I received an email from today alerting me to their latest contest. The ad proclaims boldly in big letters "You could win $1MILLION in cash and prizes". So, I clicked the link to enter the contest. The page ( opened in my browser and there was another nice graphic with big bold letters "$1 MILLION DOLLAR cash and prize sweepstakes", "Enter for a chance to win $1 Milion in cash and prizes.", and then the enter to win form.

Like most people, I filled out the form and entered... and then read the rules. I learned there is no individual $1 million prize made up of cash and prizes. In fact, the most expensive prizes are 14 weekly prizes, with an approximate value ranging from $299.00 to $500.00, that are available as prizes but only one will be given away per week.

The other prizes are; 100 Grand Prizes valued at $50.00 in cash or gift cards, 17,0500 First Prizes available of one copy of Total Defense PC Tune-Up Software (the sponsor's product) and 12,000 Second Prizes available of a six month license for Total Defense Anti-Virus Software.

Maybe it's just me, but "You could win $1MILLION in cash and prizes" means there is a single prize up for grabs that is valued at $1 million in cash and prizes. Too, in every contest I've ever seen the Grand Prize is the most valuable prize but the marketing folks at don't seem to know that and have one weekly prize with a higher value than the Grand Prize.

Am I too judgmental, or do you think this is a misleading contest promotion?
