[b][i]40 odd years ago I worked for US Rubber (later to become Uniroyal) and was aware then of this problem with tires. It comes about due to prolonged exposure to UV radiation and isn’t as prevalent in tires stored in dry, dark, warehouses. Unfortunately most stores and commercial establishment are illuminated by fluorescent lighting, an excellent source of UV radiation. In fact people who spend long hours under these lights often acquire a bit of a tan. Since seven different people have sent me this recently, it dawned on me that not everyone is/was aware of the potential problem.[/b][/i]
