Tools for network documentation, invento

By lytld ·
We're looking at products like NetViz, Visio, McAfee Help Desk, Track It to provide drill-down network documentation, inventory control and maintenance tracking. Anyone have any favorites and/or other suggestions?
Some auto-discovery would be nice. Thanks!

Use CA UniCenter TNG for free and it autodiscovers and then gives you lots of mapping and diagrams built in. Drill down all you want. Download it from www.ca.com. Where they make their money is when you love the base product and want to start addingmodules for more specific and detailed reports. AimIT is the one you want for asset management.

If you are using IBM servers Netfinity Director is included and free.

An other product with Autodiscovery features is Visio 2000 Professional. It will search local network segments or WAN configurations. From this Database that it builds, you can create a variety of reports, diagrams, etc.
