Toshiba won't boot

By JALEXADER ·
My laptop will only do diskscans, but it will not open the system. I can't load the original system. It is doing a index check.

What diskscans and what index check are you talking about?

If you let someone know what OS you're using and possibly some details about your hardware you might get an answer.

the moment I can only see two ways out of this.
How to perform an in-place upgrade (reinstallation) of Windows XP. Which will not be any good to you as the PC more than likely only has a Recovery CD/DVD or Recovery Partition.

By Booting from UBCD and copying your Data off the Drive. Check the Frequently Asked Questions.

Then you can use the Recovery CD/DVD or from the access keys to the Recovery Partition that apply to your notebook and overwrite the Hard Drive. Try holding down '0' while booting up and see if it goes into the recovery mode.
