Wow! Early update!

by CharlieSpencer In reply to TR Community scoreboard f ...

Deadly Ernest probably objects to the early update. If you'd waited a couple of hours, he might have caught me.

no I don't, I'm just glad to be off the top of the list -

now I don't have to worry about people knocking me off it.

Thanks for the info, Sonja.

And then there is my excuse

by HAL 9000 Moderator In reply to Wow! Early update!

I shouldn't even be on the list let alone at the bottom of it.

Thank you Sonja,

Have a great weekend everyone. We're now having a few wildfires in the
area, about 5 miles away. Burned through some power lines last night, and
part of town went black...yes, my part! Didn't take long to get a tad warm in
the house. Power restored around 12:25 cooling off a bit now.

Our A/C died about three years ago,

by CharlieSpencer In reply to Thank you Sonja,

eight months after the warranty expired. After the replacement was installed, we sat around and watched the thermostat like most people watch television. Every time it dropped a degree, we took another shot. That's a lot better game in Fahrenheit than Celsius.

You know it's hot when the cat settles down directly under the ceiling fan.

Our AC is "distressed"!

Our house is a split level, with a sort of half-second floor living area,
and large attic. The attic doesn't have cooling or heating, but the 2
bedrooms and bath do. The unit for the upstairs works pretty well.
The problem is the downstairs unit. We bought the place about 5
years ago, the previous owner had "remodeled" it, but the downstairs
heat/air unit is the same size as the upstairs, and has to handle a bit
over twice the area. The day we signed the closing documents,
someone stole the downstairs unit and broke 3 windows...bad omen???
Anyway, the owner replaced it, but the unit isn't big enough, and was
already "used", so one of these days...the other problem is I guess
the guy was "going green", used an early heat pump type system...
it sucks. It gets cold in the house in winter and not enough cooling
in summer. So we have extra space heaters for winter when temp
drops into the 20s F and a window AC for temps above about 90 F!
I'm a tough old bird, but Mrs Wiz doesn't do well in heat, and after
all the chemo-therapy she had she gets chilled.
At least today, Sunday, the daytime high is supposed to be cooler
than what we've had...only 101 F!! The wildfires in the immediate
area are under control, but some of the communities north east
of me, NE OKC and around Norman, have been hit pretty hard.
I've also been watching Cement OK, since that's where my little
store is, about 16 miles away. Last year wildfires surrounded the
town, but we only had a few houses burn.
Take care everyone, and THANK YOU for the kind thoughts!
Glenn aka Wiz
