I'm located in San Jose, California and would like to know if anyone has any ideals of a good site for Train the Trainer courses. I'm interested in becoming a corporate trainer.

thank you, Cheryl

Trainer the Trainer Courses

Your best bet is to call the training department of your target employers and ask the training department what qualifications they have and admire (this is key). These seem to change month on month and depending on how technical you need to be. Youwill get a list that may include:

Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/default.asp - note you also need another MS certification now)
CompTIA CTT+ (http://www.comptia.com/certification/ctt/default.asp)
Professional coaching skills (try looking at this Coachville course for coaching skills http://www.thomasleonard.com/teleclass/detail.lasso?id=406100&id2=14035 or this for selling coaching to corporations http://www.thomasleonard.com/teleclass/detail.lasso?id=406100&id2=14002 ) Or look at Coachville.com and quote affliate code 406100 if asked for one.
counselling qualifications (talk to your community college)
membership of a professional HR or personal development body (you'll need to track these down yourself)
Teacher training (degree?)
Adult educator qualifications (talk to your community college)

International organisations may also have people certified against TAP (Trainer Activity Profile ? see http://www.iitt.org.uk/public/certification/index.asp) or the e-learning equivilent.

Some of the qualifications can be gained remotely or by self study and automated tests. However, the technical trainer ones that require individual assessments of teaching practice (like CTT+) are the way to go. Some trainers are just subject matter experts who have a talent for passing that knowledge on to others. However many subject matter experts don?t understand how people learn so they are ineffective in the long term as trainers.

Hello.

I took my Train The Trainer course in Chicago from Andrew Zeff of ZTAC (ZTAC.com). It was one of the best courses I have taken. I would go out to their website and find out what his schedule is.

Hope this helps.
