Training Senior Executives

By mbraidwood ·
How do you deal with computer training for Senior Executives in your Organization? Especially if most are using laptops and are mobile, have limited computer knowledge, and want to use a the Organization's systems remotely eg. applications and access to their network files and data?

VERY tactfully.

This type of training tends to be one-on-one as the chancees of getting a group of them together is usually non-existant. Training sessions tend to be short duration, and catch as catch can.

You sometimes need to walk the fineline between making your instructions simple enough to understand and making them so simple it sounds like you are trying to teach a child (some of the executives (and engineers) I've dealt with have had a harder time grasping computer-related subjects than my 8-yr old nephew).

Make easy to understand step-by-step "crib sheets" that they can carry with them. Be prepared to modify them based on each executive's concerns, needs, and level of understanding.
