I’m currently using a dell invision laptop with the following specs:
18.5 GB hd
2.4 GHZ
256 MB Ram
XP Home SP2
a fellow librarian sold me a desktop with the following specs:
80 GB hd
1.6 GHZ
1,000 MB Ram
Windows 2000 Prof
My laptop is beginning to show signs of falling apart and I can’t afford to go buy a new computer.
I was going to transfer the files using intellimover, but the program will only move files up to a more recent version of windows.
Installing XP on the desktop seems risky and a big hassle.
Intellimover comes with two cables: USB Cable and a parallel cable.
I can’t figure out how to get the computers talking to each other so I can transfer the files.
My files are generally not super advanced stuff, so I don’t think going to windows 2000 will screw anything up, and if it does I can move the file to my work computer if it is essential.
Suggestions? Solutions?
I want to give the laptop to my daughter who can use it for as long as it lasts, which may not be long, so no drastic solutions, thanks,
Deborah
