Trouble Installing Word Perfect Suite 8

By capri ·
On every install try of WP Suite 8, I get a message that Windows Messaging needs updating, then the setup is aborted with the message that there is insufficient disk space. I am using a Dell Dimension XPS T500/256mb RAM, 20gb HD (with 9.3 gb free disk space). I was able to successfully install the same program on my laptop with only 2.3gb free disk space. What can I do?

Which version of Windows is on your PC?

I have only installed WP 8 on W95 and W98 systems.

The Windows Messaging on the WP CD may only be compatible with the older versions of Windows.

I have seen erroneous insufficient disk space issues when an installer is not able to replace a file, or create a folder it requires.

Start with Windows Explorer.
Remove the existing Corel and Word Perfect folders from the failed installation.

Clear out the C:\Windows\Temp folder.

You may have to go to add/remove programs and remove a newer version of Windows Messaging before you will be able to install WP 8.
Then, after you have installed WP 8, use Windows Update to install the newer version of Windows Messaging.

If you are running Windows 2000 or XP, you may need to step up to Corel Suite 10, 11, or 12.

I have seen version 10 and 11 for under $20 (US) at computer sales and web sites.

Your answer made such sense to me, however, even after following all your suggestions I'm still unable to load this program on my computer (I do use Win98, by the way). Any other suggestions? (And thanks so much for responding!)

While not specifically addressing your problem, give this Microsoft Knowledge Base article a look.

Might do the job.
