By zofo_ca ·
I have Mandrake 7 installed and it has worked great up until now. when a startx it gives me the error that i must select "screen" option in xf86config and that no graphics devices are configured. I have ran for a long time with no problems and allof a sudden this happens. Why?

I don't know why it happened but I think that running Xconfigurator should solve the problem.

It's possible that the config file got messed up... I can't really tell you why...

Run 'XF86Setup' from the console. This will ask you if you are doing a reconfiguring from an existing configuration. I usually answer 'N' to start fresh. After doing this, it will ask to hit ENTER. Do so... the screen will change to a graphics screen (if not already in it).

Carefully select your video card and monitor types. If nothing else, when you pick your monitor type, pick something like SVGA 800x 600 and 8 bit pixel depth. This will at least get most people working.

THe menu should be easy enough.

I have had problem with booting with linux in the past, problem was with the mouse. I used a serial for the normal installation, and if i put my ps2 in then it asks me to configure it, hence .. changing hardware could effect your bootup process
