TR'S HOT TOPIC: THE THINGS YOU LOVED TO HATE IN 2005

EDITOR'S NOTE: The TechRepublic Community NetNote will go on winter
hiatus for the next two weeks. Look for the newest edition of the
Community NetNote on Jan. 10, 2006.

If there's one word to describe the TR forums in 2005, it's ANGER.
TechRepublic members despise many things--and aren't shy in telling you
about them--but the one thing they detested perhaps most of all this
year was Windows. Windows' pros and cons, the reasons people hate
Windows, and Windows as evidence of Microsoft's arrogance. Maybe they
should change the name of Windows Vista to Windows Vengeful.

Of course, TR members didn't just hate in the specific, they also hated
in the abstract, spending a fair part of 2005 raging against IT's
particular versions of ageism, sexism, racism, and adult illiteracy.
And the classic antagonisms also made an appearance, with plenty of
resentment directed towards stupid patents, stupid users, and the
stupidity of working in IT.

Now some of you probably think that this is a pretty cynical take on
the year that was. To you, I present my closing argument: The Worms of
the Week. If that doesn't spell discontented user base, nothing does.
Happy New Year!

But what a year!

by jdclyde In reply to TR's Hot Topic: The thing ...

I just dread getting my bill from TR for all the primal scream thearpy that was given.

When talking along the hate line and getting all worked up, how can we not save a place for lobo? Now there was a piece of work!

I am advised by our legal team that no such member ever existed.

Priceless

by Oz_Media In reply to But what a year!

and clever on your part too Jay.

I often wonder if regular peers just make these people up for a laff or two. But then again, I bet these people actually do exist in the real world, that's the scary part!

Nothing more than Good Wishes

by Aaron A Baker In reply to TR's Hot Topic: The thing ...

My Friends;
I for one want to thank the fine people at TR for a wonderful Year. We've had ups, we've had downs, it didn't matter, we stuck together and in the end this is what really mattered. The fact that through thick and thin we stuck together and so it shall continue.
Tech Republic is made of some of the most remarkable and finest minds on the globe. If this wasn't true, why bother to come here.? Because there is no there place quite like this one. It has been my pleasure to interact, share stories, exchange files and actually solve the odd problem and rest assured I enjoyed every moment of it.
And so I feel that it's important that The Wonderful People at Tech Republic be aware, that I as member, do not consider Myself Special, rather I consider all of us, the People at Tech Republic and cannot help but feel great pride at being a member of this organization.
I don't know how far this message will go but I truly hope that it's read by a lot as I 'm saying to "Everybody", "Every Single Member".
"Thanking you, for giving me a great year by your presence and above all may we look forward to many more of such as we have had, together here at Tech Republic, the best place of the all.
I Thank you one and all.
I also want to wish you all
a "VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS"
and a 'HAPPY NEW YEAR.
May the next be even better for all of us.
My Warmest Regards to all
Aaron

That's great Jay, HATE is such strong word and your application here is brilliant.

Yup we had ups and downs, and you even left out a couple too, though I don't think they were worthy of praise.

Man, it was a real tear jerker to remember some of those fights/discussions, thanks for the mamaries!
