Trust relationship between W2K and NT4

By John Boy ·
Have recently been asked to set up one way trust between the older NT4 network and the new W2K network and cannot get a trust relationship established between domains (cannot find "NT4Domain" message from W2K server). Ping shows connectivity fom server to server and have added static mapping in WINS just in case. Still no action. Domains separated by configured cisco 1605 router. Do I need to setup RAS on the W2K server? Any suggestions?

On the tcpip properties for the win2k servers, check the wins tab on the see if you have netbios of tcpip disabled.

On the W2K server try adding a static route.
Goto command prompt and type route /?
This will give you the command syntax but should be on the lines of:
Taking example ip address

IP of W2K = 192.168.0.1
IP of Router = 192.168.0.2
IP of NT4 = 192.168.1.1

I presume they are on different ip schemes as they are going over a router?

The route command would be

route add 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.255 192.168.0.2

This adds a route to the NT4 via the cisco router.

If this does work, re-type the route add line with a /p on the end to make it persistant.
