Hi. I'm trying to add an internal WD 1tb hard drive as an extra drive to a 6 yr old Dell pc running Windows xp sp3, but it's not showing up in explorer or device manager. Does anyone know if there's anything I can do? Thanks in advance.

Is the hard drive being properly detected in BIOS? If not, check the mainboard manufacturer's website for a BIOS update for your model of mainboard.

If you have not already done so, you will also need to create a partition on the hard drive before it will appear in Windows Explorer.

BIOS, partition etc.

Thanks for your replies. I have not had a look in the BIOS - will do so later - am not home at moment. The hard drive has not been partioned. I removed it from an old computer of my brother's, where it showed up fine in windows explorer. If I can't access it through windows how do I partition it?
