Tweakui Restrictions

By funkeyboy ·
Currently running Win2k with TweakUI V1.33 installed. I imposed some restrictions in tweakui for the users, for example removing the Control Pannel icon on the taskbar, network places icon on the desktop just to name a few.

I want to remove someof the restrictions imposed but I cant fire up TweakUI (start c:\winnt\system32\tweakui.cpl) when logged on as Administrator. An error message appears "This operations has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator" How can open/run TweakUI and remove the restrictions enabled?

Please help.

This sounds like you imposed restrictions and or don't have permissions to use the
tweakui.cpl Try the Securitt Tab and
Take Ownership of the file and or directory.
If Administrator is the "Owner" then you should be able to execute.

The tweakui.cpl is a control panel application which has been disabled.
You may have to:
A Edit the registry to remove the restriction
B Use Rdisk to restore the registry or
C Try remote management software to access the program.

Could you be more specific about which parts of the registry need to be edited. This would be greatly appreciated.

b. Registry hasn't been backed up.
c. Remote management software?

Sorry im fairly new to win2k (newbie =)

If you will log on to the workstation locally (PC name is the domain) as administrator then you can get to TweakUI again.
