Two Dial up Adaptors active

Often after opening Outlook 2000 I will find I cannot connect as there are two dial up adaptors present in Task Manager/Network. I do not know how to close the first inactive one to continue. Consequently have to close down the pc and restart. P4 2.4 1gb RAM 60gb hdd XP Pro. Anyone got any clues?
