I am aware that currently Macromedia Dreamweaver UltraDev 4.0 is the standard software package for designing dynamic and data-driven websites. However, I must admit that after spending literally months trying to configure the settings correctly (and unsuccessfully), I must admit that I am somewhat fed up with the software and am looking for an alternative. (Even following the instructions to the letter in the tutorial book that came with UltraDev to get it set up did not work, and MacromediaTech Support could not solve my configuration problems.)
FrontPage is not a viable alternative because it is not powerful enough. Therefore, the question is this: can I use Microsoft InterDev 6.0 (which ships with Visual Studio 6.0) as a feasible alternative to UltraDev? More specifically, would I be able to take an ASP or VBScript page that I create in InterDev and edit it in UltraDev if the occasion ever arose? (In other words, can ASP, etc. files be exchanged liberally between the two programs the same way they can be exchanged between ColdFusion and UltraDev?)
I am still in the dark here with UltraDev and do not anticipate being able to set it up successfully anytime soon, so any advice here would be greatly appreciated.
