Unable to Access Root in Linux Terminal

Hii ! I am Cris Jones and I work as a software developer.I need to perform some administrative tasks in Linux, but when I try to access the root user using ‘su’ or ‘sudo,’ it asks for a password and doesn’t accept any input. I’m sure the password is correct. How can I gain root access in the terminal?
