    Unable to change Screen resolution.

    Locked

    by danwest58 ·

I am unable to Change the Screen resolution on a laptop that is running windows 98 and the 800, 600 resolution will not take up the whole monitor. As administrator I can change the resolution to fit the whole monitor but this will not effect the other persons screen resolution. There is no POL file on the Persons login but they are unable to change any hardware configs at all.

I’m a little confused, because you said that this is Win98, then talked about Admin & other user accounts. If this is Win2K, you need to make the user an administrator, then log in as them to make the change, then restrict their access again. Hope this helps!

Go to device manager and see what driver you have loaded for your monitor. It may be a driver that will not support the resolution you are trying to get. Look at the properties for the monitor. Select update driver and select default monitor from the list. That should work.
