This post appears to be listed under discussions, yet it is clearly a technical question.

You have not provided nearly enough information for anyone to help you. You mention group policies so I am guessing that you are talking about some form of Windows. That still leaves a lot of possibilities. There is NT, MS Small Business Server, Windows 2003 Enterprise Server, and others. The particular server software that you are using is something that anyone trying to help you should know.

You say that you are using the server as a named server. Is that all? If it is just a named server and it is hanging then that is something that someone who wanted to help you should know about. If you are also serving files and printers and if you have per seat licensing then those are also issues that someone trying to help you should know about.

So please post questions in the correct place and provide sufficient information about your problem that people trying to help you don't have to have a long question and answer session just so that they can understand your situation.

You mention that the end users log on to files. That is not possible. People may log on to a domain or they may connect to shares but they cannot log on to files, shared or otherwise.

So please post questions in the correct place and provide sufficient information about your problem that people trying to help you don't have to have a long question and answer session just so that they can understand your situation. And try to learn about computers before you call yourself a system administrator.

I apologize it has been a long day, and I am still very new here. You are right, I clicked Discussion, not question...and I should have included all aspects of the problem. Thank you for your assistance, I will fix this, and re-post. Thank You.
