Unable to download - Browser shuts down

By SPAULDERASSOC ·
You asked "let us know about it. And take a minute to tell us what you think of the move; we want to make your downloading experience the best it can be - how close are we?"

Every time I try to download the following article:
"10 things to seek in an uninterruptible power supply/surge-protection device"
my browser closes and everything is deleted on the screen.
Does the "new and improved TechRepublic Download Directory" have anything to do with it? I didn't have the same problem last week.
I tried to download the above 5 times and it happened every time?

No, more likely corrupt plugin. I think the articles are .PDFs generally. Might help to download latest adobe reader, would write over corrupted .dll on reinstall likely.

spyware can cause browsers to act funky also. probably wouldn't do just the pdf thing tho.

you could also reinstall IE, & do normal system maint. I keep copy of opera, firefox in case IE takes a dump. you can now download IE with those.

normal stuff to do that could also fix prob: reg cleaner; disk scan, defrag. clean out temp cache files in browser.
