unable to download from popular sites

Please help. I cannot download anything from a web site. I do get my email, however, I tried a trialware download at adobe.com and symantec…no go.

Can you help me troubleshoot? I have OS 2000 and Windows Professional…my email is Outlook 6 and IE v.6
