Unable to open an Access 2000 db

I have a Access 2000 database that will no longer allow anyone to open it, compact & repair it, import from it, etc. Whenever/however I try to access it, I get the error message “Record(s) cannot be read; no read permission on ‘MSysAccessObjects’.” Is there a way I can salvage the data in this db? I believe it may happened due to a network connectivity issue but now no one can open it.
