Unable to open attachments in Outlook

By psingleton ·
I am having a issue on 3(out of 50) of the systems in our office. Two are running outlook xp and one is running outlook '07. All three of these users are unable to open or save attachments in their e-mail. They do not receive any error message or "blocked" message. The attachments are most often .doc, .docx, .xml, etc. files. The security setting are configured to allow them to open attachments. On the Outlook '07 system, the user can click 'forward' and then be able to open excel docs, but not any other attachments. I have been unable to find any solutions to this elsewhere. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to fix this or where to find a solution.

Here is an article at MS which might help.

Not blocked

This article talks about blocked attachments, but the security settings are set so that no attachments are blocked, I'm not sure of what is going on, but I do know that this is not it. Thank you for the attempt though

blocked attachments

I don't have an answer because I am having the same problem. I have repaired Outlook; I have turned off a duplicate firewall; I have uninstalled a "junkmail" outlook security update. All of these initially corrected the problem but only temporarily and the problem reoccurred (without a reboot). I don't get an error message--Outlook hangs when opening attachments. When opening documents directly from an office program there is no problem. If you resolve the problem I would love to know how you did it!

I would rather remove the corrupted profile and reload since its working fine for all users...
