Unable to run SETUP.EXE to install software

By aseoane ·
I am unable to run SETUP.EXE to install software on a Win2K with administrator rights. I double click on the SETUP.EXE to start installation and the hour glass comes up as it was running and then the installation just stops. Nothing else happens after that. This only happens when I try to install programs that require to run SETUP.EXE, but it does not happen with *.msi files. I do not have an *.msi file for the program I need to install.

Thank you very much in advance for your help

Maybe Microsoft has finially got their Act

Together and stoped you from installing any potential Viruses on one of their OS's {meaning Microsoft product}
But seriously I'd be checking that you do in fact have admin priviliges as it sounds to me that you don't.
Is this on a sub server? If so it could have the Admin Priviliges setup differently and you only have partial priviliges not full Admin Priviligies.

by sacrews In reply to Unable to run SETUP.EXE t ...

I had this problem 2 months ago on my W2K OS, were a software program would not install any software properly that was using Windows Installer package or Update.msi for Windows 2000 Service Packs files. Goto this website below to find out how to update you .msi files.;en-us;269732

I hope this helps you out.
