unable to send word docs as email

a user is unable to send word docs in word 2000 using windows 2000. when user clicks "file, send to, mail recipient (as attachment)" Outlook does not pick up the doc. Instead the dialogue box asking for an internet email account pops up. this also happens with excel. microsoft exchange is set up, Outlook is set up as coroporate or workgroup, yet it does recognize the send to command. any thoughts on what to try next?

Due to security reasons this file extensions are forbiden in outlook - check in the web i found one tool to allow particular file extensions to be attached in the outlook - but sorry i forgot where...
check about outlook security or attachments in the outlook in google

I have seen this when the local email profile gets corrupt. I would delete the current mail profile and re-create it.

To do this:

Right-click on Outlook Desktop icon and select properties. Click on the Show Profiles button. Dlete any profiles listed and re-create a new one.
