Unable to use HP Laserjet 6P through USB-2-Parallel cable

by shireesh.groups . Updated 18 years, 9 months ago

I have a perfectly fine HP LaserJet 6P printer. I recently bought a new HP laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium. The laptop only has USB ports where as the printer only Parallel. I have connected the printer to the laptop using a USB to Parallel converter cable and installed printer driver that comes with Vista for 6P printer. But on firing a test page print, nothing happens. I can see the print task in the printer queue but the printer does not respond. What could be the problem and is there a workaround?
