Unable to view a PPT file in slide show

By udayrao ·
I am un able to view a Windows Power Point file in slide show mode. When I click on Slide show button, a new task pops up in bottom showing it as Powerpoint Slide Show. But the slide show does not start. I am using MS Office-2000-SR-1 (9.0.3821). My OS is Windows XP. Is it a virus related?
I un-installed and re-installed Office. Still it does not works.

You may be looking at a file created in a newer version of PowerPoint than you have. Grab the 2003 version of the PowerPoint Viewer here:

Got your message. PowerPoint 2000 is backwards compatible, yes. It's not always "forward compatible" for files created in newer versions of PowerPoint, though. The viewer supports those so I'd suspect if the file works it's that you've got an older version than the person who made the PPT file.
