Unable to view Charts in Powerpoint

By michael.sutton.ctr ·
I am using MS PowerPoint 2003 on a Windows 2000 SP4 workstation.

I am trying to create a presentation with a chart inserted. Neither an imported Excel Chart or the built-in chart feature are working.

The data is there and there is an outline of the area where the chart should be but there is NO Chart. When I click on the area where the chart should be, the chart and supporting spreadsheet then become visible in both cases. I've tried several things but nothing. I've even created a second presentation and tried to create a dummy chart but I am getting the same thing.

How can I make the chart visible within the presentation? Is there an option or checkbox somewhere that I have missed? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
