Undeliverable Mail

By sfath ·
I keep receiving messages from my ISP that mail messages were not delivered. The problem is I have not sent any messages out to the supposed address. I think I may have some sort of worm or virus. I have run Norton and Spybot with no results. The email program I us is Outlook 2000. Is there a way to check how this is happening? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

The problem is probably due to someone who has a virus and also has your email address in thier contact list.
The virus has its own smtp engine and spoofs your address in order to fool the recipient into thinking the mail is from you.
If your virus software is up to date and your machine is clean then you have nothing to worry about.

I concur (good answer shamone), we see dozens of these every day. often addressed to people that don't even exist in our address book.

I would check to ensure that your email server is not acting as an "Open Relay" for spammer. Get your Public Gateway IP address where your SMTP mail is being delivered to your domain and go to the following website so they can do a test to see if you're replaying spam. This could be the issue as well...

Cheers and good luck
