unexpected failure

"An unexpected failure has occured. It has been logged and will be addressed by support."

I have gotten this message several times today. Who broke what?

The funny part is, do you have any EXPECTED failures in TR?

You broke it!

We now know who you are that crashed TR; do not try to logoff.

Several men-in-black will be visiting you shortly :)

I didn't do it.
You didn't see me do it.
There is no proof.
It would never stand up in court.

Thats right

they do use windoze "servers" to run TR, don't they?

I've wondered about that.

I've never heard a TR staff member say what platform(s) run the Jive software or whatever other application that are required for this site. I looked at the Jive software site just a minute ago. It is very difficult to find any mention of system requirements to deploy their software. It's really weird. I found one page that has a picture of a Windows command line window used to install the software.

Otherwise a quick look around their site yielded no information about platform requirements. I'm almost ready to conclude (but not assume) that TR is probably running their Jive web site on a Wintastic platform. Maybe we can get a TR staff member to tell us. Then at about half of the TR members will say "So that's what the problem is".

It's probably proprietary information

for security reasons.

Hey stress junkie,

All Jive products (forum, KB, and chat) run under a servlet container backed by an SQL DB. As such, they can run on pretty much any platform. I've run them personally on Windows, Linux, and Unix platforms as well as Linux partitions on huge mainframes. Let me know if you have more questions.

We'll get CSI on the case and then you're doomed. They can solve any crime. We all know you did it and are just trying to cover it up. "Me thinks Thou doth protest too much"
