Unexpected Server Shutdown. Eventlog 600

By mkrystinak ·
Newly installed 2000 Server. Keeps shutting down unexpectedly and event viewer produces eventlog 6008. Swapped out entire server already. First time thought it was a problem with mirroring hard drive.

Checked resource kit and not much help.

Some ideas...

by admin In reply to Unexpected Server Shutdow ...

Power? You swapped out the entire server... but is it the UPS or outlet? Is the night janitor coming in and unplugging it to vacuum and then plugging it in? (this actually does happen)...

It could also be hardware-driver related and you could tryunchecking the restart on error check in the startup/shutdown options and this should tell you what the error is, although then it will be down until you get to it.

It could also be that you are running the eval copy past it's usable period.... probably not this though :)

Just some ideas to check out.
