UNEXPECTED SHUTDOWN

By mtorres7 ·
I am new to Server 20003. For second time, I have reinstalled from scratch the Server 2003 OS (SBS Premium 2003). The Server is a HP Proliant ML 370, dual processor XEON 2.8 gz, with a 72 GB SCCSI drive.
This second time, searching the event log, there is a warning related to 'dynamic registration or deletion of one or more DNS records associated with DNS domain....'

I think I have a wrong configuration, but I need clues to solve this matter.

Thank you,
Miguel Torres

Sasser???

by Joseph Moore In reply to UNEXPECTED SHUTDOWN

First off, this would be better in the Q&A section.
Nevertheless, I've gotta ask here, did you apply the MS04-011 patch for Win2K3 on this server? Because if you are getting a 60-second shutdown on this server at random times, then that is the Sasser worm hitting you and triggering the LSASS.EXE vulnerability; the byproduct of that is it causes LSASS.EXE to fail, which causes Windows to auto-reboot. Is this what you are seeing? Is this what is happening to your server?
