Unified communications is a framework...

by Pintudaso In reply to Unified Communication Sol ...

Unified Communications (UC) refers to a telephone system that integrates (or “unifies&rdquo multiple communication strategies within a business.

For example, your business most likely communicates in a variety of ways: phone calls, video conferencing, instant messaging, email, SMS, fax - the list goes on and on.
A Unified Communication solution brings along all the ways in which your business communicates and lets them “talk” to each other so that they can work together in one system - creating your business much more economical.

Understanding UC

by Apira Giriharan In reply to Unified Communication Sol ...

Unified communications (UC) describes a communications system that comprises an extensive range of applications and technologies that have been designed, sold and supported as a single communications platform.

As such, the basic idea behind UC is to amalgamate all the tools needed by an organisation’s employees to seamlessly interact either internally with their co-workers or externally with customers through a central user interface.

Listed below are a few common components of a typical unified communications system:

Text-based communication (email, SMS, chat)

Voice applications (telephone calls, audio conferencing, voice mails)

Video services (video conferencing, telepresence)

Social media

Web conferencing (virtual meeting rooms, interactive whiteboards)

Collaboration (file sharing, screen sharing, joint workspaces)

An increasing number of organisations today adopt what is called ‘enterprise unified communications’ to transform how their employees collaborate with each other. Enterprise UC systems enhance business agility by simplifying and streamlining internal communications, thus enhancing employee productivity in the long run.

In addition, UC solutions (link removed by moderator) are also popular in the contact centres that organisations operate, given that they allow contact centres to open up multiple channels of communications to customers. By adopting UC systems, contact centres can manage and control all communication channels in the same way, thus ensuring that customer service is consistent regardless of the channel used.
